  1. What happened to the brochure links? I'm looking for a copy of the 1986-1993 16 Deluxe brochure. If anyone can help me here it would be great. Thanks

  4. I am documenting the process of restoring my 1993 Hewes Bonefisher 16 originally owned by Cpt. Jared Raskob’s father of Silver Kings TV. I picked this boat up in South Carolina last summer with out any knowledge of the boat’s history. Coincidentally I stumbled on a hewes bonefisher post on Instagram and recognized the font of the registration numbers along with a custom walk board on the trailer. “That’s my boat!” I knew it. Turns out it has seen more fish and sites down in the Florida keys with Cpt. Jared and his father at the helm than I could ever claim. I knew when I purchased the boat that one day I would want to update it and get it looking it’s best again, even better than new. The 1993 Hewes Bonefisher lappy had a solid 2006 Yamaha 90 2 stroke on the back and I ran it the rest of that summer no issues pushing 40-43 WOT. After a full service and carb rebuild, seals, thermostat, water pump, plugs it was running strong. No Jack plate but I did upgrade to Bennett’s electric trim tabs which work great. The hull is structurally in great shape but has been used for all the right reasons and it shows, faded Gelcoat, old patch jobs from holes drilled for different applications, stress cracks in the corners you get the idea. Finally after searching for a proper reason to de rig my favorite boat to personally restore it I found it. A 2018 Mercury Pro XS 115.. it’s slightly used with under 100 hours, paid cash from a local on FB marketplace and no dealer install fees, back orders or taxes to deal with I knew I could make that work by selling (maybe regretfully) the Yamaha 90 2 smoke. Once I had the bonefisher down to it’s “Bare Bones” stage with everything de-rigged it was time to get into the glass work of re coring the console and going around the transom and hull with fiberglass repairs. The console which used to look like a shotgun target is now completely filled and ready for new control/gauge cut outs and fresh awlcraft 2000 topcoat. All the fun and necessary tedious prep work is beginning on the hull itself using all awlgrip systems. I have removed the front half of the bow cap to allow access to the fuel tank. I figure since I’m knowingly adding weight to the transom with the new Pro XS that I will have a larger capacity fuel tank made and will build a shelf for 2 trolling motor batteries in the forward compartment to balance it all out. Fuel tank is drawn up and I am getting it cut and welded this week and should have the hull flipped over for fairing and paint while it’s an empty shell ASAP. I will use this thread as a time line of the progress for the “Bare Bones” build. Hope this helps anyone who wants to tackle a similar task get started and is fun to follow along as I get into it!
  5. Hi everyone, does anyone have any pictures of what the gray powder coating looks like on a Maverick? Google searches don't yield much, unfortunately. Thanks very much!
  6. 2000 Maverick Master Angler 18.5 For Sale or Trade Located in Panama City Beach As much as this pains me to type it is time to part ways with the maverick and step down into something that’s more of a poling skiff. I have had this boat for about a year now and absolutely loved every second of it. The previous owner had her for a few years as well and was also a forum member. I purchased this boat in December of 2020 and have used it all year and made some improvements to her over that time period. I really planned to keep this boat for much longer but the style I am fishing now is just pushing me more towards a poling skiff and that’s really what would fit me the best. 2000 Yamaha 150 OX66 2 stroke EFI (with oil reservoir) motor currently has 450 hours, I do use the boat so it may go up occasionally. The motor was serviced in November of 2021 full service, spark plugs, lower unit oil, etc. compression checks out and can provide numbers. Motor has a few scratches in the cowling but is just cosmetic. When not being used the motor does have a cowling cover on it. Motor pushed the boat to 50-55 depending on load. The boat was rewired as of November 2021 and has new crank battery and new trolling motor batteries as well that were replaced both in the last month. A custom switch panel was made for the boat from new wire marine with a resettable breaker panel, backlit switches and maverick logo that come on with nav lights, and a remote battery switch, for those who don’t know, the battery switch is on the panel, you slide up the cover and just press on and have power, same for shutting it off. The boat has a Simrad GO9 , I added a sonic hub for controls, so you control the volume and can skip, etc from the Simrad. In the last year I have added 2 pairs of JL audio 8.8 M6 speakers to the boat with a 600 watt JL audio amp, the audio in the boat sounds phenomenal and is stupid loud, but sounds great and was professionally installed with the rewire. The pair of speakers in the forward bulkhead are the rgb that I have wired to blue to turn on with the courtesy lights. The boat also has a pair of SeaBlaze mini underwater lights as well. I also replaced the older power pole with a new Minn Kota raptor with active anchoring. Those who don’t know, the active anchoring adjusts the pole to the waves, if a wave comes by it’ll dig deeper then let up once the wave is gone. Works really well. The Minn Kota I pilot just had everything replaced pretty much, (900 dollars worth of work almost) works great, is a 24 Volt system and is a 80ib thrust model. I also had the backrest redone and had new hinges welded, and also had a new casting platform made that is 22inches tall. It is taller than most of casting platforms but really is nice for sight fishing. During the time of the rewire in November all pumps were also replaced, the livewell and release well, bilge pump, and also I added a recirculating pump to the livewell. For a 20+ year old boat it is in great condition, rides super soft and really eats up chop, it has what any older boat would have which is a few spider cracks and original paint that has a few minor scratches. All of which is just cosmetic, the only thing on the boat that does not function properly is the sending unit in the boat, it always reads empty but I have never really used it in the first place and just didn’t see a point of fixing it since the boat holds 46-50 gallons and the most I have ever burned in a day is 10 gallons. Non ethanol fuel has always been run through the boat and I have always added ring free with every refuel also, yamalube is the only oil I’ve ever run the motor, the fuel tank is the original but is poly and has never given any issue. I flush the motor and wash the boat after every use, I also use salt away and when the boat is sitting on the lift, the motor has a cowling cover and the console has a cover on it as well. I have a full boat cover in my garage but it is just a pain to take off and on when the boats on the lift. The trailer for the boat is a continental single axle and has a spare tire and also a spare hub on another spare, I don’t use the trailer much unless the boat is getting pulled about 3 miles down the road to my mechanic since the boat lives on a lift but trailer pulls great. When I bought the boat it was in South Carolina and was an easy 12 hour drive. ——————————————————— Here is a list from the previous owner of items he did with time dates, some of these items I have replaced or upgraded in the description above. November 2020 - Some cosmetic repairs and maintenance, will update this list once complete. Biggest item is I am having the bottom prepped and painted with a white Pro-line Epoxy (not anti foul paint) to correct a poor job someone did before to repair some bottom scratches. October 2020 Full service on motor – Compression check, lower unit service, new fuel filters, VST cleaned out Summer 2020 - New Promariner 20Amp 3 Bank Charger, new engine key switch Summer 2019 - Custom built removable back rest added for long rides Fall 2019 Motor service - lower unit, new plugs, 02 sensor cleaned 2019 Trailer Service – hubs and added LED lights 2018 Motor service - lower unit service, new water pump & housing, new thermostats, poppet valve cleanout, installed water pressure gauge 2017 New MinnKota Terrova 80 Ipilot, relocated new batteries to front compartment 2017 Added BT receiver, JL Audio Amp and Speakers 2017 New Simrad Go9XSE w/ TotalScan Transducer 2017 Shark Eye LED Nav Lights ——————————————————— For any questions on the boat please text me or call me ; Drew Morros at 850-381-1130. You can email me or message me as well on here or at drewmorros8@gmail.com if you’d like more pictures don’t hesitate to ask. I can get any specific photos and or videos. If I don’t answer leave a message or shoot me a text and I’ll get back to you, this has been a great boat and I have made a lot of memories on it throughout the last year. I am asking 27,900 or best offer for the boat and trailer, I am open to trades for a poling skiff with cash on my side or vise versa depending on the boat. Thank you for looking. Tight Lines

    21 Master Angler

This is a one of a kind Maverick Master Angler. I will let the pictures do the talking on this post. Let me start off by giving everyone a little background on this boat. Shortly after buying my first MBC product 10 years ago I fell in love with the MA 21. I have owned 6 MBC boats (3 Pathfinders, 2 Hewes, and this MA). This has, by far, been my favorite and there is no doubt in my mind why this hull is so popular amongst the MBC community. I purchased this boat about 2 years ago and took it directly to the rebuild shop. All of the work was performed by one of the country's premier yacht builders. They have asked that I not share their name because this was a one-off deal and they will never refit a boat of this size again. If someone is a serious buyer I will then share that information. The vessel spent more than a year in the shop undergoing this refit. As you can tell from the pictures this boat looks brand new. There was no expense spared to make this boat the way I wanted it. The hull is a 1999 but now shines better than it did new. The motor is a 2006 Yamaha 225 and has about 650 hours on it. Everything was replaced on this boat at the time of refit. The factory polling platform was redesigned and totally replaced by my friends at Quality T Tops in Tarpon Springs, Florida. The boat was completely re-wired and is truly bullet proof now. As the pictures show the refit shop customized the console to allow a flush mounted GPS that also doubles as the gauges. After enjoying this boat for the last 8 months it is now time to move on to my next project. My family has outgrown bay boats and we are moving up to a 36 foot center console (Jupiter). This could quite possibly be the biggest mistake of my life but as you all know we all have a boat that we sell and then regret for the rest of our natural existence; this will be mine. I labored over every single detail of this boat, I have spent more money on this vessel than I will ever admit on a public forum. Below is a list of what was replaced new at the time of refit. - Every wire and switch, including the panel - Raymarine 7 inch touch screen Hybrid touch GPS and Transducer - Power pole with remote, 8 foot -Yamaha binnacle and cables -Polling platform (Quality T Tops) - Rub rail and insert -Two Optima Blue tops -Blue sea circuit breaker and battery switch - All connections high and dry in custom box inside console -Clarion head unit with usb port and JL marine speakers -Yamaha engine and key wiring harness -LED naviagation and anchor lights -Bilge pump -All hatches and lids were sprayed by LineX of Sarasota to match non skid - A truly bullet proof coating -Minn Kota RT 80/ST/ I Pilot with remote (never installed, brand new) -Dual Pro - Sportsman Series - Tri Pro three bank charger -Custom Sunbrella console cover I have decided to price this boat at $29k to forum members. If anyone has ever had a refit like this done before you know how quickly the expenses can add up. At that price I will be losing a significant amount of money on this project. This boat is currently on my lift in Anna Maria Island and can be wet tested at any time. You would have to get MBC to build you a new one to find a nicer MA21. I will be listing the boat here first.

    Hydro Tec Marine Performance???

Hey Guys, Has anyone ever heard of or put a Hydro Tec Marine- Phase I Kit on their Yamaha motor? I Stumbled stumbled upon a post on Facebook and the guy was talking about having put one on his Yammi 150 vmax OX66 and his numbers seemed really good! Any info would be appreciated, about reliability, performance, fuel economy, etc... I'm not worried about voiding a motor warranty as my motor is an 01 Yamaha Vmax OX66 with 70 hours. The Kit on Hydro Tec's website is $1,236 and then I'm sure there would be a decent amount of labor to have it installed. If this kit isn't worth it is there anything that can be done to an older carb 2 stroke, to up performance?? Thanks, Vinnie

  16. Hey all - Reaching out in the hopes that somebody knows somebody who knows somebody who has a supply of Fighting Lady Yellow gel coat in the ~year 2000 vintage. I need a TINY amount to address a couple areas on my 2000 Maverick MA, but spectrum only has it in gallons and they want ~$700 for it! If anyone has any that I can buy a portion of for a reasonable price, I'd be eternally grateful, and if anyone else needs the same thing, maybe we can go in on it together. I hate the idea of paying 175 for a quart, but it's better than $700 for a gallon! And will you STOP IT with the emojis? Oh, wait, are those fighting lady yellow?

  19. This skiff was repaired and refurbished by Jonathan Glasser of Glasser Boatworks in December 2014/January 2015. It is the most well equipped and solid 17T that I have ever seen in person. Stringers were raised and floor and hull were reinforced before being finished with awl-grip. Hull is now rock solid and Glasser did his magic on all of the original gel coat. Every system is in working order and has been well maintained. This is the perfect low tide/everglades/west coast winter tide skiff. Runs and floats extremely shallow and has a ton of space for a 17' skiff. It is the perfect purpose-made compliment to a big bay boat.
