Pabel1993
I don’t know if this has been discussed before, but has anyone repowered the 2300hps with the new mercury 250 pro xs. From my understanding the 2300 runs best with the 250 sho but it was just something I was curious about.
redzone1
Why not go 300 Pro XS ........ it weighs the same as the 250. I’m pretty sure you can order the boat through a dealer with no motor or pre rigging and have your dealer - if they sell Mercury - rig the motor. Pabel1993
That’s what I was thinking but I’m going to repower soon and was thinking about going that route
jason p
That 4.6L Mercury is what’s going on my 2500 when it’s time for a re-power. Shoot by then they’ll have 4.6L 350s and 400s I’d imagine.
Pabel1993
I’m going with that 300r I think. It’ll turn that 23 into even more of a rocket ship I imagine lol
jason p
It’s your boat obviously but I’d look into the differences in the 300R and the “regular” 300. Besides increased price a lot of the “R” motors come with 24 or 36 month warranty where the regular motors are available up to 8 years now I believe... if that’s important to you. Some of the “R” also require higher octane fuel which may be tough to find in a non-ethanol fuel depending on your location.
Pabel1993
That’s good to know I appreciate it I wasn’t aware of that
BradM
Not sure how fast you want to go, but the HPS is running 64+ now with 2-3 men, gear and a stock 250 SHO. You can always flash it to 335 h.p. when the warranty is up.
