smilemaker Posted February 17, 2020 Report Share Posted February 17, 2020 It may be a pedestal seat. Remove the cap and see if there isn't a pedestal underneath. The pedestals were glassed from underneath back in the old days. Were susceptible to rusting out so many people would grind them out and replace with a stainless steel top mounted Insert. Often the sleeve for inserting the pedestal rod is an off size diameter and it can be hard to find the right size. Years ago I had to drill mine slightly larger to get one to fit.
