Yamaha speedo has water inside

The title says it. Round speedo started acting wierd and then the "mode" button would not work. No wonder - had a ~tsp of liquid inside. Probably water.  Anybody had this issue and if so, what was your solution?

Had a similar problem years ago. If I remember correctly the water was entering from the top, around the glass lens. The black ring around the lens is threaded onto the meter. Remove the speedo, remove the ring and lens, dry out, add silicone to lens and reinstall the ring.
