Wanaflatsfish
was running the motor over the weekend as I normally do in my big tub and noticed a bit of hydraulic oil on the seal. watched a few You-tube videos and stayed at a Holiday Inn and thought it would be a simple project. Has anyone done this? Looks about like a 5 out of 10 on the DIY list. The only thing I don't have is a "spanner" wrench...which seems to be about $65...so, I'm debating whether to just take it in and pay the labor....will call John @ Maximum Marine today for a price. mulligan
Easy to do IF the caps come off without an issue. The last one I did I had to take an air hammer to to break it loose and the one before that I made a spanner type socket to use an impact gun to get it loose. I could be wrong but I think the spanner is the same as the Seastar if you have one of those.
jh141
Check 5 Star. See if the money makes sense for you. https://five-star-marine.myshopify.com/ I got the replacement pins from them for my SHO. I can now easily remove my trim and tilt unit. The stock pins are a major problem when removing the showa T/T unit on Yamaha SHOs. They were the only rebuilder I could find that took the time to manufacture the SS pins to fix the problem. They also guarantee their work.
Dale Nelson
You will need two different size spanners .the caps are horrible to remove.
triplec
This 👆 You didn't mention if tilt or trims are leaking but on the 150 the trim caps are the same size as Seastar steering cylinder cap spanner that came with my steering seal kit BUT Seastar wrench is not hefty enough to be up to the task in my experience. It def wont fit the tilt cylinder.

jh141
DC, Talked to my son this afternoon, got on the subject of trim and tilt. Had to fill and bleed (what a process) mine. This is where he got his tools for the Seastar and Yamaha stuff. Told me they were not cheap but after he broke the less expensive stuff trying to remove the stubborn caps he said they were worth it. https://marinetechtools.com
