SouthernWake
Quick trip this morning. The wind made for a relaxing ride in and out as well as precision poling. (Cant figure out how to turn these pictures)
SCFD rtrd.
Looks like fun. Had to Google Rails, weren't sure what they were. Good to eat?

I wouldnt put them at the top of the food chain but definitely palatable. The shooter was either going to fry them or put them in a bog. I just push the boat and yell at the dog.

whichwaysup
I have always wanted to kmow how these taste. Rails and tales trips are common here, but nobody talks about eating them. I would love to try them.

My family has hunted them for 40 years here in Coastal Georgia and have killed very many....the best way to prep them is to: 1. Skin them out and gut them 2. Soak overnight in buttermilk or whole milk in refrigerator 3. Drain , dry the birds and bake in large cast iron frying pan with good seasoning and gravy mix. 4. Also bake a large pan of biscuits with butter 5. Take birds and biscuits out of oven once cooked and place on table. 6. Dip the biscuits in the gravy and feed the birds to the dogs. 7. Occasionally you can eat the meat if you’re really hungry 😎
whichwaysup
Ah yes, reminds me of a famous Oyster Toadfish recipe involving a cedar plank. Lots of prep and ingredients, cook it up on the cedar plank to infuse the flavor, toss the fish, eat the plank. 'tis as I feared.
SouthernWake
Can't say I eat too many, but have had them. I wouldn't seek them out but will eat them as I personally wont shoot anything I won't eat. I usually just push the boat and yell at the dog while customers shoot.
