Started the day ice skating on the deck, had to stand on towels until after 9 am. By 2 we were in t-shirts. The fish were hungry, 10 striper (biggest was 28, caught by my son), 24 redfish. My hands are so cut up from gill plates and bristled jaws that they look like they went through the garbage disposal. So the Vanford is by far the best reels I have ever had , next to the Stellas . whichwaysup Posted January 9, 2023 Report Share Posted January 9, 2023 My second oldest son has caught the fishing bug something fierce and has been begging me to go just about every weekend. I think I understand his interest, every trip has been double digit days, and Saturday ee both ended up with unexpected slams of Striper, Redfish, and Trout. Slow start but great finish with 9 striper, 5 reds, 2 trout, and many many many lost fish! whichwaysup Posted January 21, 2023 Report Share Posted January 21, 2023 Man, what a day. Took a good friend who doesnt get to fish much out today. Tough conditions but we managed a phenomenal day and I managed three big reds on the fly using sinking line in about 20 feet of water. Its been a long time since I have caught a red that big on a fly rod, and never in current.
