Seacraft06
A little trip down west today provided a mixed bag of Mutton, Gray, Yellowtail and Porgy. Threw back a limit of legal groupers. Hope they are still around come opening day! Wind really kicked up but the 2500 powered right through it.

Popular Post Lap it Up
Last weekend I fished the Fiddler Crab Festival tournament with my good buddy Capt. Les Hernandez out of Sea Hag Marina in Steinhatchee Florida. I couldn't enter this Red (overslot), but a great fish none the less.

I understand that they haven't been fished for with rod and reel for very long--mostly spear-fished in the past?
Capt. Troy
30 lb flouro carbon leader. Knocker rig with circle hook. Use cut bait to start with and try to clean out the grunts and other small fish. Then drop a live shrimp and wait for the tap. They don't seem to nibble, they just hit it once and then sit there. 3 of the ones I caught were hooked while reeling up to check my bait. Bring lots of shrimp!

Capt. Troy
At home in Tarpon Springs in 60 feet of water. Plenty of them around here. I used to shoot piles of them when I was commercial spear fishing.
