Bay Fisher
97 Bayfisher. Thinking transom needs to be replaced. See pics of cracks below. If so, then it would be time for a complete restoration including replacing fuel tank, rewire, etc. Any thoughts on what the damage is to transom? Recommendations for who can fix? Cost estimates? TIA for any info.
Coto
That’s really bad will definitely need a professional if you are in Broward or Palm Beach I can give you the number of a great fiberglass repair guy that’s mobile. Others will chime in with guys in their area, so where are you located?
Bay Fisher
I'm in Ft Myers. Yeah, it's pretty bad. I had some warranty work done on some spider cracks the first year I had it ('97). I kind of feel like there was something more than that at the time and it has just progressively gotten worse over the years.
Coto
Sorry to hear that. I’m sure someone from SW Florida will chime in to help you out.
mulligan
I had a 97 BF that did the same thing. From what i was told years ago when it happened is that it was the way the stringers are attached to the transom, or lack of. I had it repaired where they beefed up the stringer/transom attachment. Ran it for 7 or 8 years until I sold the boat and it was still solid as a rock without any further issues.

polliwog
Out of curiosity, Have you ever had a hard hit with the lower unit of outboard? I have a 1997 20ft LT tackle with no issues so far ,have had the boat since 2000. I do most of my running in none wave heavy areas so the boat doesn't take much of a beating.
