flyfishinglife
I have the original 2001 Yamaha 70 two stroke on my 01 HPX T. I've replaced not digital Yamaha guages, the speedo a couple years ago. Can anyone tell me if my controls and gauges would be compatible with a new F70LA Yamaha? Just trying to figure how much additional cost for rigging the new engine may require. I'm already going ahead with Baystar hydraulic steering on my boat. Gets harder every season to keep the original cable steer system from seizing. Thanks!

Sorry can't help with the comparability, but will say I had same issue with steering and replaced my steering tube with a stainless one and solved that issue. That along with new NFB cable and it was smooth as silk and no freezing up. Ez, cheap and reliable...
polliwog
I just repowered my 20ft Hewes LT 150 V pro 2 stroke with a 150 4 stroke Yamaha and had to go with new gauges. New stuff matches up with new technology of these engines. Will probably cost 1500 or close for the gauges installed.
Donh
$1500 wow ? Couple of years back when my F150 was stolen as I recall a new tach was about $300. Check with a reputable shop in your area. dh

flyfishinglife
I did the repower with a brand new 2014 F70. Got a really good deal, $6500 and my old and tired 2001 70TLRZ to cover the rigging. Also got two additional years under warranty as a Yamaha incentive. Like Bill said, the gauges were compatible.
