DaveVero
Changing the old trolling motor to a Ulterra 80#. What shaft are MA owners using for best results. Worried about getting one longer than needed when I primarily fish the IRL. I have heard the stories on the problem with the Ulterra but auto deploy would be great when fishing alone. Hope MinnKota has fixed the problems like thier website states.
geeviam
54" is a good length for your setup
whichwaysup
I've had a 54 inch, but switched to a 60 inch. The 54 inch is fine if you are strictly fishing inshore, calm waters. If you are going to fish jetties, bridges, or anywhere that has a decent chop, the 54 inch will *** air just often enough to annoy you. That extra 6 inches makes a big difference. And no, it will not be in the way when stowed. You won't even notice it. Go 60, you won't regret it.

Wanaflatsfish
60 is my recommendation as well.....with the Ulterra it's so easy to just hit the down trim button anytime. DC
DaveVero
Having trouble finding a new 60 inch Ulterra! Bass Pro says only stocking 54 inch . One dealer wanted over list for the one he had in stock.

Coto
54 if it was a tiller I would say 60.
