Mike45q
Finally pulled the trigger on a new Yamaha VF200 and my mechanic wants to buy my old motor to rebuild. Mechanic is not the dealer and I did witness the compression test that determined one bad cylinder. 45 # vs 110-120 for the other cylinders. Question is what is it worth, including oil tank and wiring harness? Thanks in Advance Mike
Capt. Troy
It's worth nothing until you determine the low compression problem. It could be many things and you will have to dis***emble it to determine the issue. The block could be bad, hole in piston, rings knocked off and so on. If you trust your guy let him tear it down on his dime and go from there. Way to many factors as to the condition of the engine to put a number on it. Not to mention that something else has already failed to create the existing condition.
smilemaker
The value to you is what you can get for a used lower unit fuel injection system and Ecu. Find their price and go from there.
HarleyG8r
Friend sold his 200 HPDI with 1 bad cylinder (non Vmax) a couple years ago for 1500, motor only, no rigging. Hope this helps.
clink
My 2001 HPDI locked down. I didn't save the oil tank but sold the rest for $800 I think.
