Lowcountry78
I called yesterday to ask a few questions about which anchor to get for my 22 TRS. He said that 12 lb is sufficient in 40' or less. There may be an occassion where I may be in deeper water...say 50'to 60'. Do you guys that use this anchor see that being an issue? Does it warrant me spending the extra money to get the 18 lb? MikeH
I have used 12 lb. Sea-Claw anchors for almost 20 years. First, on a 22' Pathfinder, and now on a 21' Maverick Master Angler. Best anchor I have ever used. When I had my 22' Pathfinder I added a few feet of chain, and never had a problem. Admittedly though, I don't recall ever anchoring in 50' - 60' of water. My personal opinion is that the 18 lb. would be overkill.
Compton
They are powerful (sticking) compact anchors. Not trying to derail the thread here but piggyback off of the query. Interested to hear if anyone knows of a well constructed compact bag to store the anchor and line in, my 6lb'er goes in the forward hatch along with all sorts of other gear like cast-nets and life jackets. Trying to have a storage solution where the gear doesn't get so tangled together.
THE OUTLAW
Make sure you attach the anchor line , to the top of the anchor , with a breakaway cable . That sucker hooks . 🇺🇸🏴☠️
