jh141
I am running new 6 AWG to the bow for the TM. Have always used a Punch Crimp. Thinking about a inexpensive Hydraulic Crimp. Anyone have an opinion or recommendation.
HoneyB
I always find out just how Redneck I am on this site. I use an old beat up flat head screwdriver and a hammer. 2

jh141
That's innovation, That's how the Punch Crimp was invented
geeviam
The inexpensive hydraulic crimpers are known to leak. I just ordered one, more like HB's Redneck concept, LOL. A few good reviews. I might need to get a heavier hammer to go with it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NHZZDW?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details The one I really wanted was this one (out of stock, like just about anything that's good these days!): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HJYVFSG/?coliid=I3BEC50YICDLXH&colid=BK6U9OZ9IMZE&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
jh141
I have been watching refurb. Nice work, Thanks for the response
jh141
Geeviam, I like that Temco. That would be easier than putting my Punch Crimper in my vise and It would save me from getting in and out of the boat. Out of Stock is becoming way to common. I have watched a bunch of reviews and leaking seem common.
smilemaker
Have not used one but I like the look of the IWISS . I prefer a crimp that compresses rather than indents the lug. I have the chepo harbor freight hydraulics and it has done well for me for several years.

MBGNole
I tried a hydraulic crimper from Amazon, but it did not make a solid crimp that would pass the pull test. I returned it and bought this mechanical crimper. I have made numerous TM and battery cables with it and have loaned it to friends for their projects. It has performed well for us. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079NCMNK5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_ZJ4DS39QW5W1G8CN9YH6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Came with several interchangeable size dies.
jh141
Thanks for the responses!! I decided to get the Hydro Crimp from H.F. It does a good job. The dies are not sized well. I found the die labeled 4 AWG worked better for the 6 AWG. The die's seem to run one or more sizes smaller for a closed lug. Got the supply's from Pacer.
