genakika
I am the owner of the time capsule that was listed for sale on here a few weeks back. The boat and engine only had about 60 hours on them. They looked new like it just came from the factory. However the rest of the systems even tho they had very few hours on them were almost 30 years old and in need of replacement. A few people had asked for us to join the forum and keep others informed of our progress so I will try. Social media and forums are not my strong points...lol Our first shake down run we found that the bilge pump did not work and when we got back home we drained over 30 gallons of water from the bilge. So first we replaced the bilge pump but it still did not work. Realizing that it was the wiring, we decided to do a refresh and redo all of the plumbing, wiring and switch panel. We have already purchased and installed new trolling motor. Front one did not work and we are not going to use the two transom mount. We cut the ears off of the poling platform and took it to Sarasota LineX to have it recoated. We had the rod holders and grab handles coated as well to match the poling platform. The thru hull for live well was plastic and may have been cracked and leaking which caused the water in the bilge so we have replaced it with a SS thru hull from Gemlux. We have replaced all other plumbing hoses. We have replaced the front Nav lights with LEDs. We have ordered a new trailer from Owens & sons. The galvanized trailer it is sitting on now will not last long getting dunked in salt water 2 - 3 times per week. New switch panel is on order. We have installed new trim tab switch to replace the toggles. We also moved the trim tab switch switch from the switch panel to the top of console above the throttle. Installed new Simrad Go 7 GPS and Fishfinder. We have installed Ionic Lthium batteries and charger for trolling motor. We have run all new wiring. Installed new fuse panel. Waiting for new switch panel so that we can finish wiring and get her back in the water. Oh -we also had to add a couple of drink holders (LOL) and will be adding a stereo. I have added a few pictures below. Thanks for following our progress

genakika
Thanks Wanaflatsfish. My son is doing the rewiring. He has redone the wiring on several of our boats including when we repowered our Contender. He has also helped several of our friends with their boats so he is pretty good at it
genakika
An update. We got steering wheel wrapped. New switch panel came in. My son got everything installed and all wiring done. Waiting on a new Maverick stcker for the switch panel. My son took it for a test run this weekend. Everything ran great. Still a very small leak but only a little water in bilge. we think it may be the livewell drain. This is the only plumbing we did not redo. My son said this boat is very fishy. Spent a few hours on the water doing a shake down run. Brought a few rods and caught reds, trout and flounder.

polliwog
Boat does look like a museum piece, How is the engine at that age? I assume it was stored correctly. Good luck, My 1998 LT tackle is pretty good, but not like yours.
