johnd Posted August 17, 2022 Report Share Posted August 17, 2022 on the flats and edge of the flats - seems like mullet run is starting in the river. Just before sunrise been tossing topwater. My largest Snook on 4lb test at 26". This morning took a buddy who got two Trout, 21 & 22", both walking the dog. Just got to love the excitement of a topwater hit as the sun comes up. Different with the Pathy vs. the old Redfisher.. I could get skinnier in the Redfisher and in these waters a few inches makes a difference. So I'm making really long casts. Water temps in the Banana still around 85 degrees in the am. Reports of a minor fish kill (no oxygen) just south of me. And besides having a blast catching fish, last week received reports of real grass growing - skeptical to say the least - went to a flat, climbed out of boat and walked around a bit.
