croakersmoker
I was taking my boat out of the water last weekend and gave it a shove to nudge it into place. I pushed it at the rub rail and noticed that the deck seemed to move up away from the hull. It wasn't much much movement, but has me concerned. Are there any ways to bond these back together without having to fully remove the deck? It seems like the issue is local to the front foot of the boat. Has anyone encountered this problem? Let me know what you think!
polliwog
Some of the guys who have had a restoration of these boat and had the cap off will hopefully chime in , you need to know how the deck is fitted under the rub rail. My guess is you have to at least remove the rub rail.
mulligan
I had a 97 Bayfisher 18 with the same issue. From what I recall with my foggy aged memory, is that there is not much bonding besides screws. I believe mine just was pulled out by the screws under the rub rail. I will say I would fix it now before it becomes a big issue. The boat I had got hit by a wave in the loose area while running and pushed the hull in causing a nice fiberglass repair bill! Lvnspeed
When I put the deck back on my Bonefisher I put this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C9D2GFJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details between the deck and the hull. I then used C-clamps to hold the deck and hull together until it cured (I waited 48hrs before removing the clamps). Is this the right way, I have no idea, but I did it that way. Toeknee217
My Hewes was somewhat detaching in the front as well when I first got it. The screws that had been holding cap to the hull had begun to pull out of the fiberglass. When I cut the front cap to replace the fuel tank I made sure to re-glass the lip and put new screws with 5200 between the cap and hull.

I just bought a 96 18’ binefisher lappy. Trying to separate the cap from the hull and having issues. Any tips/tricks?
