ChuckMCD
I have a dilemma, I currently have a 1972 bonefisher and a current action craft 2020 hull. Both need complete rebuild. Not sure which one to build. My question here is how do the older bonefisher’s perform? The hull looks sweet. The 2020 is wider but reviews say the 18 rides better
whichwaysup
oh gosh - looking forward to this convo. You might find a bit of bias on this forum, so may be worth throwing it on hull truth and/or microskiff to get a broader POV. How important is resale value to you? fin-addict
Hate to jump ship but I would go with the AC from what I have read about them in the past. Don’t kill the messenger 😂.
Wanaflatsfish
12 y/o hull vs 30 plus...easy decision, unless you want the "romance" of rebuilding a 1972 bonefishes... dc
ofdphildo
I've always liked the AC 20 hull. Heard good things.
MuddyBottomBluz
Looks like the AC20 wins, when can I pick up the Hewes?!
ChuckMCD
Probably should have put more info in the original post. Hewes has a clean title. The ac no title and was a plug or test hull it was acquired from ac with paperwork to title it, but it gone. If it was a plug it’s heavy. Anyway I opted for the hewes and have already started removing the top.
fin-addict
Knowing this you made the right choice. Was wondering how a recent 2020 needed a complete redo. You meant the 2020 model not the age. 😂🤦♂️
whichwaysup
Chuck, please post up pics of the progress!
ChuckMCD
Both decks are out. Neither were original. Dealing with some bad glass work And previous owner trying to take it apart badly. Probably will update the front top deck to flat and not original recessed due to bad cutting to remove. 1
HenrysCreek
That makes me twitch! I jumped into one of those projects (2 actually) when I was 18-20 years old. Said “never again….then did it 2 more times in my early 20’s. I’m still waiting for those late nite ambulance chasing attorneys to run an add saying I can retire from being exposed to all that crap I breathed in and absorbed! 😏 That said, enjoy your project! They’ll create a lifetime of memories. Your wallet will be a little lighter and you’ll be itchy for quite a while, but once on the water Flying along at 45, those will be distant memories!
