Whiskeytrain
I bought my hewes a little over two years ago and think my trolling motor batteries are starting to lose power. I am not sure how old the batteries were when I got the boat. what kind of batteries do you guys recommend? Trying not to spend a whole lot. By the way is a 80 lbs 24 volt minn Kota motor. Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance Always a good discussions: 1.) AGM = $$$ but no fumes and no maint 2.) Water filled = $ but you have to take care of them - check water on a regular basis - and when charging gives off fumes check various older posts. walmart very good battery according to many DEKA is my favorite - I've owned 6 over the years on 3 different boats. Never a failure...they do make a water filled deep cycle. Check with FLL Baterry or the DEKA distributor in FLL - American Battery Optima = $$$ but are lighter than most For $ value...Walmart or another non AGM will do the job as well as any other....so long as it's a good quality name brand...Advantage Walmart - 24 hour return policy in most major cities. Donh
Used Interstate lead acid water filled six years. No problems. Just watch the water level. dh
bkh
Duracell AGMs are good if you can get them; I went with Odyssey AGM group 34s, two of them...expensive for sure but they don't drain much at all - have never gotten below 1/2 charge after moderate use. Recharge after every trip.
oldsalt
Two 31 agms from Deka, and a Stealth 1 ac/dc charging system. Power to spare!
ofdphildo
Duracell are made by East Penn Manufacturing, the company that makes Deka. I recently put them in both my vehicles. I have been very happy. I will be shopping for some soon and will probably go Duracell for the boat too.
