Time Flies Posted April 30, 2024 Report Posted April 30, 2024 I’ve searched some and looked at member photos but I haven’t been able to find what I am looking for. I am planning to install a 4’ Digital Antenna on my T-Top and install the VHF Radio in the E-Box. I would like to bolt a stainless ratchet style antenna mount to my t-top in lieu of rail mount. Does anyone have pictures or experience installing this set up? The T-Top is a TNT Custom with “2 antenna pads”. I can’t determine if this is the oval bars directly under the canvas or the flat bars 2” below the canvas that the E-Box hangs from. Would the oval bars be better? Possible water inside the tubes. Or the flat bars be better? Would need to shim with starboard to get directly under the canvas. Photo from below for reference. Quote
HoneyB Posted May 1, 2024 Report Posted May 1, 2024 You need to mount the antenna to the tubes. Once you mount the antenna you drill one more hole to run the wire inside the tube and down the leg. One or more of the side console mount tubes should open up into the console. The same applys to the E-Box. That tube will let you run the wire into the box. I’m not sure where your vhf is mounted. One other point of note is before you drill a hole to mount the antenna stand on the gunnel and reach over the top to make sure you can reach the lever on the antenna. 1 Quote
fin-addict Posted May 25, 2024 Report Posted May 25, 2024 It’s all up to the owner. Rail mounting is so much easier. Easier to raise and lower when needed. Easy access to tubes and replace if necessary. JMO 2 Quote
