Guest
I have a 2000 1806v with a livewell under the seat in front of the center console. This past weekend during a run across the bay in some rough seas I discovered large amounts of water spilling out of my livewell into my center console and draining through the back of the boat. Upon further inspection, it feels like there is either a lip between the rim of the livewell and the center console, or in the alternative, the fibergl*** has separated and there is now a space around the rim. Has anyone else had this issue? Is this something I can get fixed by a fibergl*** fabricator? I guess its not that big of a deal but I reall would rather not have water running in my battery compartment and even some baits are slipping out through this space. Last thing I want is one getting stuck and rotting in some impossible to reach corner of the helm. Any advice would be appreciated.
SCFD rtrd.
I'm not familiar with that particular boat, but lots of guys have had problems with the seal or lack of a seal at the top of the live-well. Use a mirror to look under the lip and you will probably find gaps where the live-well is not sealed against the fibergl*** top. Clean the area good with Acetone and fill the gaps with 3-M 4200. lurem
Check the seal at the top lip like suggested above and if you have a tall standpipe either get one a couple inches shorter as a spare or cut yours down. The rough water was your enemy that day.
harbday
Thanks, guys. I agree it was definitely as a result of the rough seas that day. When I was running calmer waters little to no water was sloshing. I'm going to try your suggestions and will post an update.
fishmanjj
Sometimes while running..my center well gets more water coming in than amount of water going out, and it will overflow...I thought the level was just too high ( close to top of well) ..so I cut down the length of pipe a few inches , re glued the dome cap on, to keep the total amount of water less and have not have the overflow problem again. Kos
The fill tube and the dump tube for the 1806's livewell run through the center console. Check to see that both hoses have snug clamps and that there are no cracks where they connect. In rough seas I could see one or both tubes moving and causing water to enter the console. harbday
Thanks Kos. I did check the clamps and they do leak very slightly. However, I was having water spilling into the cockpit from around the front side of the console/livewell so I'm sure its a bigger issue than just the dump tube connection.
