Scales
Good Morning, Any suggestions on makes of rod holders, installation, etc.? I'm considering having my shop weld 'u-shaped' holders back there to accomodate smaller trout spinning rods (for trolling). Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks, Wade
harbday
Here's what I did. Also check out http://therobocup.com/. I use one on my trolling motor shaft and one on my center console step. They are awesome.
Nauti
I have clamp on rod holders on mine. I've moved them around a few times but typically keep them both up top like Harbday's.

I don't know who makes them. The guy who built my platform sourced them from his big catalog of aluminum parts. Any metal shop that does marine work should have them in stock. They have the white plastic inserts in them. However you mount them, I'd recommend having them slant outward so they function like outriggers. Since I powder coated my platform white, I could get them in white from TACO.
RobVan
I also installed a Taco clamp-on holder. Went with the gold anodized to add a little bling to the sled.
HarleyG8r
I used these on my Redfisher 21 factory platform: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CMY1V7S/ref=pe_385040_121528360_TE_dp_1 Fit perfect, and looked great.I couldn't tell between these and the Taco holders, I'd bet the only difference is the price and the packaging. FLDXT
Make sure they don't interfere with you PP if you have one. Mine bump on my MA.
gasparilla
@FLDXT beat me to it - I have duals on mine and they don't bump the holders, but they will bump the reels if you have them in the holders when you raise the poles. Not a major deal, but something I cuss at every 8th trip when it happens. Mine are welded in place, so I live with it, but I'd measure it out better if starting from scratch . . . Scales
I think I'm going to go with adjustable Taco bolt on holders. My boat is at the beach which is 2 hours from my house. It's a 1999 Mirage II. How do I determine the tube size so I'll know what size to order? Any suggestions? Thanks, Wade

Thanks, Wade TACO has a template on their site which you can print, cut out and use to measure. Use that to reference and order the correct size.
