nicecast
OK, it's sort of boat related, since I have pulled various boats with my 2005 Nissan Frontier. I need a transmission rebuild. Anybody in Florida (preferably Southern Florida) know any good, honest rebuild shops? Please post here or PM me. Thanks-
fishtaco
Sorry, I can't help. But if you're pulling a 2200 with a Frontier I'm not surprised the tranny has failed. Seems heavy for that truck (unless you're only towing down the street to the ramp).
FLDXT
Agree with fishtaco, not familiar with smaller trucks. I've had the tranny on my.Cummins done twice. I would look into Suncoast or one of the high end tranny shops that offer a good warranty if you plan to keep it. Might want to look into additional tranny coolers also. nicecast
Thanks, guys. My boat is on a lift and I don't pull long distances. What killed the trans is the "strawberry milkshake" issue some Nissans had with coolant leaking into the transmission fluid.

Owners name is Leslie. stand up dude.
nicecast
Lap it Up, I had missed that one. Just talked to Jose there - he was awesome and the price he quoted was fair. Hoping it will work out. Thanks-
hurricane
How bout an AAMCO. Never dealt with with them, but they are all over the place. If you had an issue some where other than home it might be nice.
nicecast
UPDATE: Picked the truck up from AAction Transmission (thanks, Lap It Up, for the recommendation) after a full rebuild and it shifts like butter. Fingers crossed for another 100k miles of useful life!

Rerouted my tranny cooler to external early on when I learned of the problem on the Frontier Forum. Also installed a tranny temp gauge. Ran my 07 Frontier LE for 160,000 miles with no problems. Glad I caught that problem early. Nissan has a service bulletin on that problem and perhaps you can get some reimbursement from them. I used to tow my Pathfinder with that truck and has no trouble except for 14mpg. l

Next time have a Billet 3 plate torque converter installed. Standard rebuild or replacement doesn't cut it in the long run when hauling is involved. Ask me how I know....
