Project Healing Waters Backcountry Purple Heart Slam: Help Needed!!

The Backcountry Purple Heart Slam will be held tomorrow and Saturday in Whitewater Bay in the Everglades National Park.  This is an event to host 12 U.S. Marines, all Purple Heart recipients, for 2 days of fishing.  Due to a miscommunication, Project Healing Waters is in desperate need of a Pathfinder or similar boat with a t-top.  The captain would stand ready to assist in the event one of the Marine's needs to be evacuated back to the marina (though there will be Miami-Dade Fire/Rescue available as well).  If you can help with this, please call me at 954-253-7954 or call Tony Fernandez with Project Healing Waters at 786-853-4281.  Thanks so much.

I'm surprised nothing else was said about the Healing Waters event.  To be honest it was an amazing event and experience.  People like Big Dave and Semper Fly deserve a huge pat on the back for all their work in making it reality.  I'm sure that there are more people I am not mentioning here.  Radi deserves a huge thanks as he took the time off and got a babysitter all after 11PM the night before when he heard one of the support boats was not able to make it.  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue also sent 3 medics who were placed on the support boats and available to assist if any problems developed.  There were 11 Purple Heart Marines that made the trip down to ENP.  Each of them were very thankful and a pleasure to spend time with.  I believe that Florida Sportsman sent a reporter who will be doing a story for a future issue.  Here is a picture of most of the Marines and many of the volunteers that we took immediately after the return to the ramp.
