Shallowminded6
I am making a trip to Manasota Key from 6/11-6/18 and renting a condo. The condo is next door to Flounders restaraunt. The issue I have is that the place I rented does not have a spot to store trailers. Anyone know where I can store a trailer for an 18' boat around there? Any fishing tips or areas to hit on and off the water would also be much appreciated. Will be myself and my GF, Thank you in advance. You can post info, call or PM me. SCFD rtrd.
There are probably lots of places, but I only know of two. Stump Pass Marine and Marine Dynamics. Both are on Placida Rd.
Shallowminded6
Thank you. Any areas that I should be targeting there, or just find a decent looking flat and fish?
SCFD rtrd.
My suggestion is to just cruise around on the incoming tide. Start in the inlet and just ease along following the shore-line and count the fish. I was there the first two weeks in April and the big Snook are already in the inlet, hugging the shore. gasparilla
In June the big snook will be in the pass, spawning. You can catch fun size off the beach. Tarpon should still be in full swing on the beach. Inside, the best place for Reds in June is in the Mangroves on high tide. Cut bait will work, or cover a lot of ground with plugs/plastics. I would let you keep the boat in my parking spot at the Condo, but it's rented that week, and I'll be staying on LGI. I don't put in Lemon Bay often, but I know you can leave your trailer at Eldred's in Placida for $6/night - gotta imagine Stump Pass would be similar. Shallowminded6
Thank you for the tips guys. Will look into those marinas for sure. Doesnt seem like they are too far from the place I am staying which is convenient. Any other tips you guys come up with send em my way please. This is our first trip to the south west coast short of a weekend in Tampa.
