Island Style
Looking for some new rims to put on the trailer. Not sure what is out there and holding up to salt water. Any suggestions? thanks in advance!! JD
Wanaflatsfish
Anything fancy = $$$$ I just go with the standard galvanized and change them when they appear rusty..... Go online to a Maxxis retailer and they will sell you new trailer tires mounted..just bring to a Firestone and they will then balancde for $10 and you are golden for at least 4-5 years if you wash them....again, just depends on your budget and look you want. dc
HarleyG8r
Eastern Marine is running a sale right now. I've bought aluminum rims and tires from them for may last two trailers, and been happy with price and quality. http://www.easternmarine.com/

jason p
Go galvanized and just replace them when they get too rusty as Dino stated. By that time you'll probably be due for new tires anyway. Aluminum will eventually start corroding (usually form the lug nuts outward) no matter what you do in my experience. I had my corroded aluminum wheels media blasted, primed and powder coated and they look great. The problem is the lug nuts breakthrough the powder coating and you'll eventually run into the same problem. I can count on one hand the number of times my trailer has been deep enough for the lug nuts to get in the water in the last 18 months since the powder coating was done. There is already signs of the coating starting to bubble around the lug nuts.
fishinbill85
Not to mention the galvanized steel rims are a bit tougher against curbs and whatnot... Cheaper too.

linesider 159
I like mine. Clearcoared and easy to clean. You can get them and many more here: https://www.trailer-wheels.com/mobile/home.asp#home

RodWorks
Every aluminum rim I've seen eventually corrodes due to the disimilar metal contact of the studs and hub itself. I'm going back to galvanized or painting mine black at some point.

Gotta roll shiny...can't be doing no galvanized stuff! 20 year old trailer (and boat) but freshened up the wheels 4 years ago. Holding up decent. 84 salty dunks last year that I know of and likely about the same the 3 prior years. All in how you take care of them. *Looking sharp Linesider! Thinking thats my next set!
