Google Texas flats boats and you can find pictures of super low profile, low gunnel, minimal deadrise, very shallow running boats. I think those are the type boats that the USCG is concerned about. Bruce J Posted May 23, 2016 Report Share Posted May 23, 2016 The Maverick HPX-T is probably the closest MBC boat to the Texas style boats that have the "swap ends" problem. However, I've run my Mavericks since 2002 and have never had anything like that occur. The issue with the other boats is that they have a sharp V bow, but a dead flat/zero deadrise transom with a tunnel and motors up high on jack plates. If the sharp V bow sticks in the back of a wave while turning, there's insufficient "grip" in the back to keep the back end from sliding around - quickly!
