2 Stroke Oil

OK, ya know you are asking a 2 stroke question when 80% + of this forum are 4 strokers! But that being said; Pennzoil 2 stroke Marine SEMI-Synthetic oil is the best as per the prior postings on the forum. The only place I get a good deal on it in Miami now is "El Capitan" who has it for $19.00 a gallon. Use to get it at Discount auto parts / Advance auto parts when it was $16.00 a gallon but apparently they caught on, $26.00 a gallon I think or maybe more now.

I'm with Mud Bottom, I think it's the Pennzoil "Premium Plus" oil, I've been told it's the same as Mercury "Premium Plus", not positive, might be salesman BS. In any case I only use Amsoil HP in my two stroke engines. Cost a bit more but I feel it's worth it...about as much per gallon more as a nice Mirror Lure.

I did a 2 stroke oil "test" when I was fouling plugs in my old motor and found pennzoil pemium plus to be the cleanest burning of them all in my Yamaha. Still all I use.  Wait for a holiday weekend and advanced auto parts will have it for like $15 gallon then stock up

Thanks! I was skeptical at first, but the reviews I read on here were correct. Less smoke and easier to start than YamaLube! Just ordered some more. Academy has 2.5 gallon just for 46.99 and the gallon jug for 19.99.  Paid $101 shipped for two 2.5 gallon jugs after tax. 5 gallons of the single gallon would be 108 shipped after tax. They did qualify for free shipping.

Premium Plus and XFL are both semi-synthetic.

FYI If you have Amazon Prime you can "subscribe" to an oil program and get X gallons every X month(s) (of your choosing). Believe it was $15 delivered. Probably not as good as the Academy or Auto Zone deals in the past, but not bad.

I have been using the synthetic blend and am very pleased with the performance. I bought the Academy deal as well.(thanks for that post). Prior to that, I was getting it at Advanced Auto. Both locations thanks to posts here on the forum. I must say, my 130 is running better than ever.

No they are different, and Pennzoil still makes Premium Plus and they make XLF. Now what the real difference is???????

you are correct, my wrong. meant to say the old syn blend is now being called xlf. as was told by pen rep when I called to find out the difference over a year ago.

I'm running Yamalube. I was running Pennzoil (that's what the previous owner was using). I had the boat in to have the water jackets done. The mechanic ask what kind of oil I was using because there was some build up on the heads. He recommended going back to yamalube or mercury oil. So I switched.... Take it for what it's worth.

I bought a gallon of the Amsoil 2 cycle Injector oil for just over $22 per gallon. I am a preferred member so I get it a little cheaper. That yearly membership really does pay for itself since I get all of my stuff that way.

I'm with ya Tim on the Amsoil preferred member program, pays for itself after a one case purchase of oil. If you have an EFI or mix your oil/gas the Amsoil "injector oil" is very good, if you have a DFI engine the Amsoil HP is the way to go. It's the only synthetic oil that is equal to the top of the line Evinrude Etec 2S oil, which is the best and most crazy expensive.
