Nag Juice
Ok so I'm boat shopping again. Since used MBC Boats are the same price as new ones I'm entertaining pulling the trigger on a new one, either a 18RF or 22TRS. I'd love to replace what I had, but I'm not sure it's a reality since they are scarce and priced pretty high. I looked at a new 18 Redfisher yesterday. It felt like my old 18MA but does anyone have any experience with the 2? I test ran a 21RF once and needed a set of rain gear on a nice day. The reason the TRS is in the run is bc I can get into a TRS for the same money and it's a lot more boat.
hurricane
No experience with either really, but I don't see how new vs used is the same price? Normally new boat price is just the boat, a lot of times no prop, no battery, no trailer and for sure no accessories. Used boat will come with all that plus. I think new used is the best buy if you want a newer boat. Sorry I know thats not what you asked, just my 2 cents............

I personally prefer the MA 18, but the 18 redfisher certainly isnt a bad boat. I like the things they have changed with the cap a lot. A good 18 master angler can be found under 20, and a new 18 redfisher loaded will be over 50 (I believe).
whichwaysup
Nag - You know that, in a few months, there will be a flurry of MAs hitting the classifieds again. I'm moving down to Wilmington June 4 - hang in there a little longer for what you really want and I'll keep you on the water in the meantime. Don't go settling for something that isn't what you want! Having said that, a 22' PF would sure get offshore a little better than even a 21' MA, but seems like most folks say that the ride of the MAs, even the 18's are better than the pathy's. justfish
Love both the Ma18 and the pathy 22. The MA rides great especially for a flats boat, and I know ride can be subjective, but I can't say it's better than the longer pathfinder. Different, possibly even better in a super tight chop but the similar hull design and extra length to help it span waves make it ride super nice. Ride is so good on both it should be a non issue for comparison and basically comes down to do you want a flats boat or bay boat.
fishinbill85
Shooooot...If you want a new boat, you have my blessing to get one! I'm sure I ain't the only one here willing to help guide you through spending that money! They are all mighty fine these days from what I can see. I like my 2200V well enough. I heard the MA's ride a bit better due to the sharper entry? One thing I don't understand, even now, is why MBG puts such a small baitwell lid on such a nice BIG BAITWELL?! Makes for a miserable awful time getting a 10' net full of 4-5" whitebait in the well without having to spill them all over the deck...Mine is getting upgraded this week. My cousins Exuma is pretty wicked... it does inshore and offshore very well... They are on facebook.
linesider 159
Go all out and take a 21 master angler and throw a pathfinder 22 cap on it.
hurricane
I have always wondered why they didn't use the 21MA hull for the 22 Pathfinder. Seems like it would've been a no brainer!
Nag Juice
I'm going to have to be patient. Ideally' I'd love to find a reasonably priced 2003 or newer 21 Maverick. Since MAs are in high demand and worth their weight in gold I entertained the idea of a new red fisher. They have the same layout with the upgrades and improvements. I'm just not sure it would be the same ride quality having ridden in a 21RF, 21MA, and Pathfinders.
whichwaysup
Nag - check the classifieds this a.m. - there's a pretty little 1995 MA out there for 7500 that looks like its in great shape. You could do a LOT of work on that boat for what you'd pay for a new pathy!
Nag Juice
I saw it. It's a nice sled, but I'm going to wait out a newer 18 or 21.
hurricane
Best bet to wait it out and find the one you want. It took me 5 months or so to find my MA. The right one will show up.
