Redrum
I have a 1999 1810 Pathfinder and I'm having a problem with the live well. The problem seems to be that when I get up on plane I loose most of all the water in the live well. It seems to me like I'm experiencing air lock. Then when I come to a stop and go to get some bait, realizing what is happening (loss of water) I can usually spin the boat back up and live well works fine. but not all of the time. Then when I just back on plane the problem repeats itself. I hoping someone, anyone can help with this situation. thank you
harbday
I have the 1806 and had the same issue. I got one of these and it solved all my airlock problems. Make sure when you install it that a small portion of it hangs below the bottom of the transom. If you mount it perfectly flush with no overhang then you will still airlock when up on plane. http://thmarine.com/ez-pump-advanced-water-pick-up-system.html
Redrum
My pump draws from the bottom of the boat, not the transom. Not sure what year your boat is.

In that case I'll defer to others on this board. My boat is a 2000. You could also check out shurflo bait sentry pumps. they claim to have a self-priming pump which eliminates airlock issues. SCFD rtrd.
What type of water pick-up do you have? If it's just a simple thru-hull fitting, then that is the problem. It siphons the water back out of the live-well when you are on plane. You need a forward facing scoop of force water into the system while on plane. awildseahorse
Mine will do that sometimes (same year as yours). Do you have a stainer basket in the system? If it happens, I just loosen the strainer from it's base with the pump running until I hear it pick up water, then tighten it back down and I'm good to go. Pathfinder sells what I'm told is a replacement grater that should solve the problem....http://mbggear.com/product/replacement-livewell-pick-up-grate-for-pathfinder-sea-chests/ the problem I now have is that my thru hull fitting is centered in the middle of the bunk on my trailer. So I now have to have my trailer shop modify my bunks so that the new grater, which protrudes slightly below the hull, will not be damaged while loading or launching the boat. Loosening the strainer basket does not do the job. I can close the valve once the livewell is filled before I decide to move to another location, which requires me to plane the boat. But what a pain in the a$$ that is. So, it is what it is and if it's not one thing , it's another. I hope that this new grater will in fact fix the situation. Any opinions or suggestions are welcome.
