whichwaysup
I had a strange situation happen over the weekend - I pulled my engine out of gear, and when I put it back into forward, nothing happened (except the engine revving!). Turns out that the nut that keeps the shifter cable attached to the peg on the engine (clearly these are technical terms) came off a while ago and it's been a matter of time till the cable popped off the engine. The nut looks to be a 1/4", but the thread count is pretty fine (>20). Anyone know what that thread count is or where I'd find a replacement nut? Lap it Up
It's either a M5 or M6 nylon locknut.

whichwaysup
Thanks Lap! I'll order a couple extra and keep 'em on board! To be clear, it would be this? https://www.amazon.com/Bolt-Base-Stainless-Insert-Nylock/dp/B00B3RINQ2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1470690244&sr=8-1&keywords=stainless+steel+m5+locknut
Lap it Up
That will work. PS pack assorted Zip ties on the boat. I had a similar problem with an old Looper Johnrude. Zip tie got me home.

whichwaysup
Just a follow up here - Turns out it was actually an M6 nut. This was for an 88 115HP Yamaha! I ordered this little box of gems, so am well prepared in the future! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IPFA8TO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=
