CG RYAN
I am going to buy some type of transom saver for my boat. Just wondering what type everyone is using. I think the m-y wedge is one of the more popular ones and not too expensive. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Miss Jazzy
Been using the m-y wedge for the last 7-8 years and I wouldn't use anything else.
SCFD rtrd.
Been using the m-y wadge also, but thinking about going to this. https://motormatestore.com/ This thing gives the necessary support and also takes the torque off the hydraulic steering as you are bouncing down the interstate. jason p
That's fancy. I'm a wedge guy as well. The original owner had it on there with the blocks that go on the steering Rams as well. I don't think it helps the transom any though, I think it just takes the pressure of the trim/tilt assembly.
NCTribute
The M-y Wedge is not really a transom saver, it mostly protects the tilt/trim cylinder(s), that is why they refer to it as a motor support. They claim it reduces shock and therefore helps the transom, but do not see how it really does much to reduce shock. I do have one, but rarely tow far enough to consider using it. Bamaskeet
I think Motor Mate is the way to go. It supports both sides of the motor bracket and keeps the motor centered and from turning during trailering.
whichwaysup
Dumb question . . . are they really necessary? I don't have one/use it, but generally tow with the engine jacked up and at max tilt, but still on all three pistons (Tilt/trim)
FINCHASER
IMO no they are not... ive never used anything but have considered getting a wedge cause if the T&T ever failed trailering the motor wont be ground off when it hits the road. CG RYAN
I only want one because my motor has to be tilted up quite a bit and I want to relieve the stress on the trim system.
mulligan
My trim support is simple. Two pieces of 3/4" pvc over the rams for support.

Josh B
I use the Motor Stik's from TH Marine, I also use the steering lock to keep the motor from turning. Both work great. If you google Walmart had them for about $28 last I looked. http://thmarine.com/th-marine-products/trailering-accessories Josh B.
