deepsouthtech
My raw water washdown has quit working. The pump hums when you turn it on and the re circulation part in the livewell works which has me scratching my head. Anyone have any ideas? Hose is not clogged and if I leave the cap off while running, some water comes through and into the hull.
SCFD rtrd.
Kind of difficult to diagnose. The reason you are getting water while running is that the cheese grader is forcing water to the live-well pumps and the wash-down is connected to the live-well pump. Do you have a filter on the intake to the live-well pump? Reason I'm asking is that I had the same problem with the wash-down pump and the problem was grass had entered the diaphragm of the wash-down pump and it was just running, but not pumping water because the grass was keeping the diaphragm from closing. I was never happy with the volume of water from the wash-down pump because it was borrowing water from the live-well pump. So, I added another thru-hull intake for the wash-down and now have plenty of water. Also added filters to all pump intakes.
Bamaskeet
There is a pressure switch on most wash down down pumps, that's often the problem.

No, I haven't been on the water much since I posted this and I didn't have notifications turned on so I apologize for not responding. I can't figure why the pump will run the re-circulation part of the livewell but not pump the other direction. Not a big deal for me, but it does come in handy every once and a while. SCFD rtrd.
Alright, I'm catching on now. You don't have a dedicated wash-down pump, right? The wash-down discharge gets it's water from the recirculating pump, right?

SCFD rtrd.
If you want a real wash-down system, you need to punch another hole in the hull in install a thru-hull with a shutoff, then route the hose to a dedicated wash-down pump. You will have lots of water and can run all your pumps at once without robing water from another pump or system. The white hose connects the new thru-hull intake to the wash-down pump. Dedicated wash-down pump with a filter. Excuse the wiring mess, had to take the protective cover off to find some wires.
