Whiskeytrain
Hey guys, I'm repowering my hewes and need to get the platform off. Any good advice? Is the back brace thru bolted to the transom? Also any tricks on separating the platform from the transom because there is a lot of 5200. I've heard you can damage gel coat trying to separate something bonded with 5200. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
jason p
Can't help with the Bonefisher specifically but as far as the 5200 goes: try sliding some heavy PowerPro between the platform and the gel coat to cut the 5200. Use a wooden dowel on each end of the braid as a handle so you don't cut your fingers off.
johnd
Ask Skip at MBG if that year was thru bolted. Mine (much older) was simply lag screws (which I replaced). Use 4200 when you reinstall.
