Waz-in-Oz Posted January 1, 2012 Report Share Posted January 1, 2012 These photos show the new marina and rock walls built so the new bridge over the main river could go ahead - lots of controversy here. On this day it was big tides (3.8 meters) and the current coming out where the bridge is being built was so fast the little tinnie had to go flat out to get on top of it just to get through - supposed to be a 6 knot zone only but at 6 knots I couldn't make headway against it. Other shots are some of the many snags up one of the many creeks (tide was full on this day) and the mouth of the ross river which has some serious sand at the moment as we haven't had any flush out from flooding as yet. This year we have been dry after a record rainfall of over 80 inches of rain last year - Snelly up in Cairns (240 mile north) has had a heap of rain so far in December where we have had nothing - such is the season.
