Candle
Has anyone out there replaced the ignition switch on their Yamaha? I have noticed some black goo coming off the switch housing. I looked at replacement switched and it looks a bit complicated, considering the small space in which to work. Anyone? Thanks! Brian
smilemaker
It is an easy unplug and plug new switch on my 04 200 vmax Follow the wires and you will have a main plug and maybe 2 small ones for the alarm
Candle
This looks a bit more complicated than what you described. BTW it is an F115
Lap it Up
Plug and play. Very simple.
hurricane
Not all the wires are used and blue ends are bayonet plugs not splices, if that's what you were thinking. Pretty easy once you get your head in the console.
gambler1
My ignition port was the same (all gooey) at key insert, Took longer to get the Goo off the Key than to replace ignition harness. 10 minutes back in business.

hawg
You might consider leaving the wires attached to the existing switch until you get the new one. At that point, unplug the wires from the old switch and plug them into the new switch one at a time. I find it helps "demystify" what all those wire are. RodWorks
The goo is just the little rubber piece that covers the key hole. it's replaceable itself if you can clean off the old.
wthree3
You can clean the goo out of the key hole with acetone. Saves having to buy a new switch. I now replace the rubber cap every couple of years before it degrades.
