Bilge Pump Float Switch

I have no idea what your splash well looks like, but if there is room, consider the TH Marine 13 x 17 removable hatch. I am ***uming, again, that you have a pie hole hatch to work through. If you can find a replacement that is the same model as the current one, you won't have to replace the cradle it is snapped into, so remove the old one carefully. The cradle is probably stuck to the bottom with 5200 and won't come off in one piece.

Good luck!

I was thinking more about your problem and thought I had better ask a couple questions. How do you know it is the auto switch? Did you check the breaker/fuse for the auto function?

Most of the newer bilge pumps do not have separate auto switches, they are built into to the pump. If the auto function is not working and it is not the fuse, or wiring, you may have to replace the pump.

I would check from the battery selector switch to the pump before removing it. If you are trying to work in your bilge through a pie hole opening and you have room to replace it with the hatch, do so. You and anyone within hearing distance of your boat will appreciate the improved access.

Thanks for your response. There is a separate float switch, which I finally reached and replaced after some elavated verbage across my canal. New switch did not solve the problem and metered old switch and found it still works. Push in breaker for switch is not tripped, but maybe is faulty? I cannot get to harness plug that float switch plugs into to check for power. Might just install a new switch to byp*** old one and rewire? Fortunately, pump still works with manual switch.

Replace that breaker with a blade fuse holder. Those thinfs(breakers) crap out all the time without tripping. You can get one for the main fuse while your doing it and save yourself an extra trip. Mine are 7.5 amp bilge and 30 amp for the power to the console.

Bet if you replace it, that your problem will be solved.

Finally got time to replace the breakers with blade fuses. Glad I did as the breakers and connections were in a sorry state. However, that did not fix the problem. Connected with the Cobia dealer and am now looking for an inline fuse in the pump power circuit somewhere in the harness in the bilge. Who designs these things?

If you replaced the 7 1/2amp breaker near the battery switch that should be the only breaker/fuse in that circuit.

The plug for the float switch may be your problem.

The manual part of the pump circuit should be fused on the power side of the console switch. this will not be a part of the auto function.
