Gulfcoast
I am getting mixed info on the maximum recommended HP for my 2000 2200V. Online I have found 225HP however the plate on a 2003 I looked at the other day said 250HP. The plate on my boat is not legible so I can not confirm it. Did the HP rating change from 2000 to 2003? Chief5130
It did change, mine is 225hp max on the tag and it is a 2002. I am not sure when it changed, but it was in the 2003 - 2005 time frame. I have been told that it could handle a 250hp if I were to repower. Wanaflatsfish
Depending on your need for speed, I've heard the new F200 is making a good showing.... something to consider.... To be honest, the ever reliable F150 with a 4 blade powertech is a great combo....unless you need to run 50mph +. dc
Gulfcoast
Thanks for the info. My concern is more regarding insurance. I have heard that if you exceed the max HP rating on your boat it can effect insurability.
Gulfcoast
Not really a need for speed. Just came across a deal on a Yamaha SHO but its a 250HP
Chief5130
I DO NOT KNOW! But I have heard that boats over 20' are not restricted by the label. If it is that good a deal, I would investigate it, ask your insurer.
Lap it Up
I wouldn't have anything less then a 200 V6 on a 2200 Pathy. A 250 SHO would make a great combo for your boat.
RICH12
I consulted my ins guy, he consulted his company, and there are liability concerns to exceed max ratings. Accident = sorry Charlie.
