hawg
My 300 HPDI has a similar set-up. The last time I changed that filter, I needed a pair of channel-locks to (gently) loosen the bowl. I sprayed some silicon lube on the threads before I reassembled it. johnwater
Thanks for reply.thats what I thought maybe I need a bigger channel lock cause mine wouldn't budge it. john
hawg
I don't know if you have a strap wrench, but that might work as well.
reelhooked
I have have had good luck using a strap wrench. You don’t have to worry about damaging the housing if you use the strap wrench. the strap wrench also works great on the oil and water separator filters😊
johnwater
Thanks for reply. I didn't have a strap wrench, got one now.So I cringed and put a big channel lok on it and it slowly moved and loosened.cant believe it was on so tight.did scrape a little of the outside of plastic jar doing this. anyway, took it off, emptied gas in glass jar,no visible water.looked inside the jar and noticed that the bottom of jar plunger/indicator device is not centered in the jar, sort of offset..just curious as to why yamaha has it set up this way? heres a pic. john
Bamaskeet
If you look on eBay, some people are selling a special made wrench to remove the Yamaha fuel filters but they are a little pricey.
