nurd
Maverick Nation, I have never been in a tailfisher. Can anyone provide any insight to its performance and how it may handle a 1-2' chop? Can you take this boat into the gulf, in order to get to a beach? Thanks to all that will provide any info. jht
I've owned 2 of these....great boats, but in a 2 foot chop wear your rain gear.....IMO they are not made for the open bay, but are really awesome back country boats....And will run SHALLOW.... nurd
You are only one person, however that would have been the response expected. MA, Redfisher and/or Bayfisher all seem like the boat offering the most versatility. Thanks.
jht
As stated...great boat for what it was intended....easy to trailer, easy to pole, runs shallow, great layout and economical. Just not good with the chop...IMO only... I've tried it twice....found a 22 Pathfinder was the boat for me.... Good luck in the search....the "perfect boat" is hard to find

I owned it's older brother....the Pathy17....everything as stated above....but, yes, call your dentist or use a mouth guard in anything over a wind chop.....the beating are brutal in a strong chop.....I used to run the back of Chokoloskee and crossing open water, you need to run it full tabs down on port or starboard and run up on the side of the hull.....but, skinny mini and fun to run......way to dangerous to think about heading off a beach etc... Donh
iPilot install: Dino might have a picture how his was installed. I recall there was one thru bolt outside of the hull. Not noticeable
