2019 Pathfinder 2400 TRS w/ 250 SHO **HELP**

I've searched the internet from beginning to end and haven't gotten a clear answer as to which prop would work best with my setup.

2019 Pathfinder 2400 TRS, 250 SHO, factory hard top, 36v trolling motor.

As of right now I think the right prop would be the Powertech OFX4 19P 4 blade but I want to be 100% sure. My main concern is holeshot, fuel economy at a 25-30 mph cruise speed, and being able to turn 58-5900 rpm wide open (top speed isn't really a deciding factor for me). I take delivery of my boat this week and I'd like to have it propped right from the beginning if possible.  I've read every thread on this forum about prop tests but nobody seems to post their cruising speed/fuel economy numbers (only top end)

Any input would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance.

I would never say I know exactly what prop any person needs. I have posted information on the tempest plus props that I like. The reason I like them is the provide a lot of lift and get the boat up out of the water. I feel like it performs as good as some 4 blade props.

I think people report the wot throttle numbers because of the theory that if you prop your boat for max rpm or close you will be in the correct power band at cruse speed.

My 24 tournament with a 250SHO ran a OFX3/21 and it was square all the way up to 5200. Economy was great and performance was decent. The boat had a t top with curtains and a 36V trolling motor.

I think a 19 or even an 18 ofx4 would work well. I have a 19 on my 2400 with F300. I have a brand new 19 ofx4 I’d be willing to sell if you are interested.

If the boat didn't come with a propeller I would take you up on that offer. A propeller of my choice is included in the sale.

Thank you though!

Marcus at Powertech is normally very close if not right on....

Ask him for others he's prop'd with your set up....and call them....note, there are many factors to prop'n:

1.) You have a T-Top

2.) You have a SHO

3.) 36 V TM which means 4 batteries

Others on the forum will chime in, I"ve had nothing but good results with Powertech on 4 different MHP vessels: 18RF, 22 Pathy, 17T Pathy, now a MA17.

And, each prop is a compromise....hole shot for high speed.....the list goes on....but, if you go with Powertech, you can exchange any prop for a shipping fee, so long as the prop is not damaged....

Thank you thank you! I'll be sure to call powertech tomorrow when they open.

This^^

A 19 OFX 4 may be a bit tall for a loaded 24 but close . Good lifting prop for that hull. It will make the boat respond well to trim angle.

This post is the reason I'm leaning toward the OFX4. I just need to talk to Marcus at powertech to make sure these numbers are accurate.

By the way, he confirmed earlier in the thread that he has a factory hard top and a 250 SHO

I have the exact same setup as you do on my 2016 2400.  I believe that is the same prop. It is a PowerTech 4 blade 19” pitch. Not certain it’s an XSB, but that sounds right. Hole shot is good. It spins up around 5800 and I could get it higher but with a lot more slip.

I max out at about 50-maybe 51 if I play around with it a lot, but like you I don’t care much about top end. At normal cruise of about 3500-4000 rpm, I get about 2.4-2.6 mpg. Can get up to about 3-3.2 if I slow down and really work the trim.

I have some numbers for anyone who's curious about the 250 SHO performance with the Powertech OFX4 (15.25" diameter, 19 pitch, 4 blade, stainless steel).

Pathfinder 2400 TRS with factory hard top, Atlas jackplate, full tank of gas, 4 batteries, 3 people onboard, and a full livewell (forgot the valve was open).

3k rpms= 27 mph
3,500 rpms= 33 mph
4,200 rpms= 40 mph
WOT= 5,800 rpms at 53.6

I'm getting 3.8 mpg while cruising at 30 mph.

These are really good numbers, except for the WOT RPMs.  I keep reading that any motor should be propped so that it spins up to the full max RPM of 6000+ (6300?).  My experience which is supported by others here is that the RPMs with our setups and 19" props don't get nearly that high even though the prop seems to perform well in hole shot and cruising efficiency.  I hope Marcus (PowerTech) can chime in here, but I wonder if there's another solution which allows the motor to reach max RPMs without giving up cruising efficiency (where I spend 95% of my time)?
