rckeat Posted February 24, 2019 Report Posted February 24, 2019 We are planning a family trip to Elbow Cay for Christmas this year as we have never spent Christmas away from home. Would appreciate any recommendations from those who have been there with regards to fishing, guides, boat rentals, or anything else you think we should know. We found a place to stay and now just need to plan the remainder. Hoping to catch some bonefish and anything else and rent a boat capable of transporting the 4 of us to wherever we want to go. All advice appreciated.
justfish Posted February 25, 2019 Report Posted February 25, 2019 I was at Lubbers in Abaco this summer. Cool place. Unfortunately we had horrible wind almost the whole time so barely ventured outside. We did find a nice hidden cove full of bones, but I never hooked up. You need a kayak to access it, so we loaded one up on boat and had plenty of shots. I will see if I can locate a screen shot of the area for ya.
JAYBIRD Posted February 25, 2019 Report Posted February 25, 2019 My last trip over, I used CJ's boat rental on Marsh Harbour. We had a Dusky and went every where. Not sure about Bone fishing out of one. I ve known CJ for 40 plus years. Great guy.
rckeat Posted February 26, 2019 Author Report Posted February 26, 2019 Thanks guys. I will probably go with a guide for bones, but rent a boat to mess around for other stuff and with the family. Elbow Cay looks like a really cool spot so we are excited to do something non-traditional for Christmas.
BradM Posted February 26, 2019 Report Posted February 26, 2019 Look up the owner of the Jibroom Restaurant and Marina, I grew up with him. I can put you in touch pre-trip if you like. He’s an offshore guy and just bought a new Winters Custom, that’s bad A! He can put you in touch with local onshore guides, as well as show you places the locals go.
rckeat Posted February 28, 2019 Author Report Posted February 28, 2019 Thanks Brad. I will probably take you up on it when we get closer. Christmas is a long way off at the moment. Thanks again.
