Drtaylor17
What’s the best stabilizer out there to stabilize the head of my trolling motor? How is everyone mounting it to the boat? Screws, epoxy, etc?
whichwaysup
You may want to explore a more fundamental question, is a stabilizer a good idea? Doesnt that result in more "shock" to the electronics in the head vs letting the shaft flex?

triplec
I don't run Ulterra anymore since moving to Rhodan but did for several years and never used a stabilizer. One was included with my Rhodan but haven't seen need for it. The ole MA is pretty smooth riding 😎

A RAM mount stabilizer came with my Rhodan from the factory, so they are obviously ok with it. I like the extra support for long runs.

Pretty sure with a stabilizer mounted on the bow holding the shaft/head of the motor in place there will be little to no shock absorbed by the trolling motor while running across the bay in choppy water or driving around these bumpy roads in my town headed to the ramp. SCFD rtrd.
Do they make a stabilizer that mounts to the shaft instead of mounding it to the deck? Would accomplish the same thing, but would keep the deck clear.

I'm thinking cut a block of UHMW in half, route a channel in each half that will fit the shaft, drill holes to clamp it on, etc. You could recess a gimbal or hinge for the leg to fold in parallel with the shaft while in use.
