FROZEN
I found this GPS antenna/ module for tablet or phone for $129. With the $15 Navionics app, seems like a good backup or even for primary navigation and trip planning. Reading about it, people are buying cheap, older rugged-ized laptops to use with it. Models are available for USB connectors, too. Anyone tried it? https://bad-elf.com/pages/be-gps-1008-detail
HewesYourDaddy
You've already got and internal geo-location service on your smart phone or tablet (if you own one). I often use the MAP app (or whatever it's called on an iPhone or tablet) while fishing to look for new fishing spots. Just swap the screen view over to 'satellite' view and not only will it work as a real-time GPS, but you can zoom in extremely close to other spots and look for good locations. AND if the satellite took a picture of a good drop on a day when there was a boat fishing there, you've just been given a huge clue where to try to catch something. conocean
The site says this device only works on iPhone6 & later models which won’t be very helpful if you don’t want to lug around an iPad on your boat. Definitely a solution for some people though. The $10 Navionics app on my iPhone8 works anywhere, even when I’m way out of cell range. It’s pretty darn accurate too.
