Slo Poke1
Went scalloping out of Weeki Wachee last week and ran into a fair amount of floating grass, which kept clogging my intake at 25 mph. Water pressure would drop below 5 after going thru a patch every 5-10 minutes. Never happened when I was following another boat clearing it out. anyone else have this issue? BTW, scallops *** this year. We caught 13 in 2 days when we usually catch 2-3 gallons every trip. Catch and release this year.
Miss Jazzy
I have the same issue. I just keep one eye on the water pressure and when it falls stop and make sure it’s clear. Crazy thing is my two previous Pathys didn’t do it but this one is bad about it.
hurricane
Happens to me every time I go scalloping. Usually on the way in, right at tight bend in the river...... Thanks for the report, maybe it will get better.
Northfl
Same thing happened to me monday out of steinhatchee. Did it once last year also. Only once in two days each trip. We got our limit of 8 gallons Tuesday before the bad weather hit fortunately. Wife and i got almost our limit before heading in to meet our friends on Monday. I wish there was a way to deter the grass issue for sure.
HoneyB
This grass in Steinhatchee is like carpet in patches. I can assure you every prank of boat out there is dealing with the same issue .
Bruce J
On my Pathfinder I have a Yamaha 250 SHO and because it has a nose cone water pickup, it never gets fouled with grass. My F70 on my Maverick, on the other hand, loves to get wrapped up with grass. I fished with a guide once who had a 6th sense for when his motor picked up any grass. Keeping the boat on plane, he would trim the motor out fully until the grass would slide off, then he’d trim it back down immediately and keep on flying. I haven’t mastered that move yet! HoneyB
SHO can become fouled with grass. But honestly I think my bud with his Key West has caught more grass than me this week
