Release well aeration

My release well just has the single hole through the bottom of the boat. Is this adequate to keep fish oxygenated, or do I need an additional source.

what type of boat? If it does not have a recirc pump, most likely not...the single holes are normally used for crabs or shrimp with a bubbler.

It’s a 1996 hewes 16 Bonefisher. I have the original brochure which states it is a release well. It’s quite large with one penetration through to the bottom to allow water in.

doubtful it will truly act as a live well for release...you need a significant amount of water exchange for a large fish (red, etc) to remain alive in a live well.

My "89" had a multiple holes, I believe 12 all together. 6 faced forward and 6 faced the stern and it had good flow but the holes were only maybe 3/8th of an inch. Actually it flowed good while running, sitting still the water became stagnate. I have never heard of a singe hole however.
