Wantingwater
I'm a noob to the boating world. I am the new recipient of what I'm being told is a 1981 Cobia Charger. This "free" boat seems to have no information on the web that I can find. I don't know how to verify the model/year of the boat or motor. Only generic manuals can be found. The data plate on the console lists it as a Cobia C 16V I/O SER. The motor is logo'ed as an OMC 140, with a 3 numbers stamped on the engine case (3915983, J177, and 00N2). Can anyone help point me in the right direction? I'm not sure the boat is worth investing much money in, but I certainly don't want to buy any parts that don't belong to this boat! MuddyBottomBluz
Do not invest the money, it is a wood boat and has an OMC cobra outdrive that they stopped making in the mid to late 80's. everything you buy for the engine & outdrive is gonna be used and you will put way more money in then you would get out. fin-addict
Agree to the above all the way.
HoneyB
I would not put more in it than a battery and maybe oil changes. That will be more than you can likely sell the boat for.
