jh141
Centro, That ***. I caught mine in time. If your mechanic replaced the two pins ( and the entire T/T unit it looks like ) with OEM yamaha pins this is likely to happen again. I replaced both mine with Stainless pins sold by https://five-star-marine.myshopify.com. They rebuild T/T units and recognized the need. I ordered and used new Yamaha OEM bushings and Five Star Marine SS pins. Problem solved. All SHOs used in salt water that I have seen have this issue. Five Star Marine may even have some ideal if your SHOWA T/T unit with the stuck pin can be salvaged somehow. The Cost For The SS Pins is $80.00 dollors. MuddyBottomBluz
They had to know the consequences of putting that pin in. What they chose to do was put it in and say that by the time it becomes an issue the warranty will be expired. They saved $3.50 a pin times how many motors? All manufacturers do it, just have to call'em out like you are doing. Thank you.
jason p
Does any one know if it was just the SHO motors or was it all the 4.2L motors? It’s, kinda got me thinking I need to look at my F300.

Ripnlipz
Dang it man. I think this is what is happening to mine. When I trim all the way down it seems slow the trim motor. Especially when it’s cold outside. What’s this cost??
J.N
I put something like that in a huge hydraulic press and it sounded like a gun going off when the torch heated it enough to finally let go. Yes it was from a Yamaha with the same metal that doesn't hold up in saltwater.
