You can use the mount from a 6 footer with an 8' pole, but the mount from the 8' pole will not work with a 6' (there's a notch cut in the mount where they hydraulic actuator mounts; on the 8', the actuator mounts to the pole itself. Did the same swap and sold my old 6' pole with the new mount; the buyer was very confused when it didn't line up. Ended up buying him a new mount.
