CaptGregP
Moved from a 2200 TRS to a 2500 Hybrid a couple of months ago. The 2200 was great but I wanted something with more capability in nearshore waters. I fish 3 to 4 days per week and after 8 weeks the 2500 has exceeded my expectations. The Yamaha 300 provides square performance. At 3500 RPMs I am seeing 33-35 MPH on the GPS (burning just under 10 gallons per hour). With these performance numbers, range is not an issue (for me). Most of my trips have been in 2 foot seas with a few trips in 2-3 foot conditions. The 2500 handles these conditions extremely well. The ride is very dry, comfortable and predictable. Typically, I fish 15 to 25 miles offshore of the jetty entrance. The 2500 makes these runs quickly and comfortably. After 60 days and a lot of fishing, I am very pleased with the 2500.
